National Weather Service has revised predicted flood crest on Mississippi River at Cape Girardeau; forecasters expect river to crest at 36.2 feet on Monday, 4.2 feet above flood stage; revision is due to heavy rains this week along upper Mississippi River watershed north of St. Louis.

Board of aldermen this week accepted resignation of Illmo Mayor Raymond L. Eifert, who steps down after five years at that post because his family is moving outside city limits; Eifert served nine years as alderman before being elected mayor; Alderman John Z. Smith will be acting mayor until special election is held Oct. 3.
Missouri Clean Water Commission regulation prohibiting private operation of sewage treatment or pumping facilities has blocked two private construction projects; permits for installation and operation of lift station requested by Burton J. Gerhardt for industrial-commercial park on South Kingshighway and for package treatment facility for Carolewood Estates subdivision off Kage road being developed by Moutell Construction and Development Co. have been denied.

Summer encampment plans at Camp Ripley, Minn., for 140th Infantry, Missouri National Guard, are announced by Maj. A.C. Edmiston, Army administrator attached to headquarters here; main body of regiment, about 1,600 strong, will leave July 25.
Payton Miller, president of board of education of newly organized Consolidated School District No. 6 at Oak Ridge, says that in conjunction with special election for proposed $90,000 bond issue for school improvements to be held July 6, separate proposal for 35-cent tax levy on $100 assessed valuation will be voted on; 35 cents is in addition to $1 the board is allowed to levy without a vote.
75 years ago: June 30, 1928
Assistance of all Southeast Missouri in search for Leslie H. Smith, air mail pilot of Robertson Aircraft Corp. of St. Louis, who disappeared last night while en route in big plane from Little Rock Ark., to St. Louis, is asked; Smith was carrying pictures of Houston Democratic convention, for use in The Southeast Missourian.
Crest of high water in Southeast Missouri streams, resulting from recent extensive rains, was reached overnight, and water in most of streams is reported falling, promising relief to traffic which has been crippled for several days; normal train service is expected to resume on all railroads in Southeast Missouri today.
