Local law enforcement officers have been put on alert following the escape early Thursday of eight inmates from the maximum-security Kentucky State Penitentiary at Eddyville; three of the escapees are murderers.
Police are attempting to identify two men who robbed First Federal Savings and Loan, 2127 William St., yesterday afternoon; one of the men brandished a weapon in the incident, but no shots were fired.
