A Missouri Highway and Transportation Department official says the recent failure of a small, steel beam in a brace under the Mississippi River bridge here poses no threat to the structural integrity of the span.
A 90-foot, 116,000-pound liquid-petroleum-gas pressurized tank is relocated from the Union Electric Co.'s propane air plant on North Main Street to another plant at Hickory Street and Beaudean Lane; the first of three tanks is moved to South Cape Girardeau by workers with VanDyke Haulers of Chandler, Minnesota.

An increased demand for high school music teachers in the district is reported after a meeting of the committee on recommendations, composed of members of the Teachers College faculty; college president W.W. Parker says this demand has been brought about by the rapid growth of music in the public schools during the past decade.
The building committee of the Methodist Church congregation receives and opens bids for the construction of the new edifice; J.W. Gerhardt and W.W. Taylor submit the two lowest bids, at $28,995 and $30,565 respectively; all seven bids, however, are considerably higher than estimates.
When the Stein and Lance mill burned yesterday, it was thought Cape Girardeau would be without a flouring mill for a long time; Lee L. Albert, however, has stepped into the void and this morning starts grinding wheat in a small way, using a "Midget Marvel" outfit that was installed last week at his feed store.
