Mrs. Max Prill, a member of the Jackson PEO Chapter DJ, was recently installed as the new president of the Missouri state organization.

More than 400 business and professional leaders of Cape Girardeau attend a recognition dinner in honor of the Marquette Cement Mfg. Co. at the Arena Building.

The Idan-Ha Hotel has leased a 100-by-165-foot lot in the 400 block of Themis Street in Cape Girardeau, at the rear of the hotel, for a free parking lot for hotel guests; the lot was purchased recently by the Girardot Investment Co. from Mike Shaltupsky and leased to the hotel.

75 years ago: June 10, 1932

Extension of time until July 1 for the local stockholders protective committee to work out their proposal to locally finance purchase of the Cape Girardeau river bridge has been granted by holders of the $1 million first mortgage bonds on the span.

Presenting his resignation as a member of the Teachers College faculty to president Joseph A. Serena, Dr. Henry W. Olson, national president of Sigma Zeta, will this fall become director of research and will study at Kirksville (Mo.) College of Osteopathy.

100 years ago: June 10, 1907

C.J. Crawford of Fort Dodge, Iowa, who has been in Cape Girardeau a number of times during the past six months investigating conditions for a cement factory, has about completed arrangements for an immense plant here; the plant will represent an outlay of about $1 million and will employ several hundred people.

The brick residence on South Frederick street in Cape Girardeau, just west of the half-completed store building near the Houck railroad, was destroyed by fire Saturday evening; the house was occupied by the Gourley family.
