The Church of God, previously at 1012 S. Ellis St., has purchased and relocated to property at the corner of West Cape Rock Drive and Jean Ann Drive; the new property previously housed Pace Evangelical Lutheran Church.

Land in Cape Girardeau's Industrial Park will be made available to industries in the city that suffered damage during the recent flood and would like to move; the Greater Cape Girardeau Development Corp., which owns about 200 acres along Nash Road, will offer the land at its cost to industries hurt in the flood.

50 years ago: June 1, 1961

The last of the three buildings built on the State College campus with state bond issue money will be used Monday for the first time when students enrolling in the summer session will inaugurate classes in the new music building.

Boy Scout and Kiwanis Club officials outline to John Coates, representative of the State Park Board, a plan for development of a historic trail through Trail of Tears State Park; the 12-mile trail would follow as nearly as is possible the route taken by the Cherokees in the winter of 1838.

75 years ago: June 1, 1936

Vera Seabaugh of Jackson is announced as the winner in The Missourian's Prize Essay Contest, having turned in what the judges considered the best story written about a Jackson business; tomorrow someone from Fornfelt, Illmo or Ancell will win a prize for a story about a business there.

The H.F. Mabry Stave & Timber Co. has leased three acres of land from J.H. Adams on Highway 74, just south of Cape Girardeau's city limits, and is moving its stave mill here from Wentzville, Mo.

100 years ago: June 1, 1911

Commencement exercises are held in the auditorium of Academic Hall, with graduates from the Normal School receiving their certificates; speaker is the Rev. William J. Williamson, D.D., pastor of the Third Baptist Church of St. Louis.

A fire swept through six homes in Illmo last night, severely burning O.E. Brown, well known in Cape Girardeau and in Scott County towns; for a time, he was trapped in his house, the first to burn.
