CHAFFEE, Mo. -- The new Chaffee post office is a victim of the budget crunch; plans for the new Chaffee post office, to be constructed at the intersection of North Main and Dame streets, have been put on indefinite hold because of a cutback to Postal Service capital improvement funding.

Marvin Casteel, will be stationed in Cape Girardeau from Sept. 3 to 5 during the American State Convention; the troopers will direct traffic on the highways and assist local police with traffic control and other needs; the troopers will be housed at Viaduct Court.
MARYVILLE, Mo. -- The Cape Girardeau Teachers College reigns for the fourth consecutive year as track-and-field champion of the Missouri Interscholastic Athletic Association; paced by Bill McLain, the Teachers take 10 first places and collect 64 points to win the meet.
