The Cape Girardeau City Council has approved a lease for the SEMO District Fair Association to open the way for the construction of a permanent building in Arena Park; the Fair Association intends to re-lease the tract to the State Conservation Commission, which will operate the animal display during Fair Week.

ST. LOUIS -- Federal agents shoot down bandit Benny Dickson as he grabs for his guns as he exits a small restaurant here; it is revealed Dickson, the subject of a long federal manhunt, was in Cape Girardeau from Wednesday night until early Thursday afternoon, accompanied by his pretty wife, Estelle; they spent Wednesday night in a tourist home on Morgan Oak Street.

The Broadway Billiard Hall, 418 Broadway, which has been operated for eight years by Albert Smith, has been sold to Charles "Tuck" Priest.

The Camp Fire Guardians are behind a movement to establish a public library in Cape Girardeau; the first book for the library was received last night, when Mrs. Lillian Clarkson West of St. Louis, head of the Gospel Rest Room, gave the Guardians a copy of her writing, "Aunt Hope's Kitchen Stove and the Girls Around It."

Two members of the state examining board for barbers put local tonsorialists through their paces, the result being that nine now hold state certificates for expert workmanship: Harold Tallent, Walter Siemers, U.F. Grace, L.H. Dunlap, Joseph Jackson, Will Jones, Will Gleason, Norvell Hill and Claud Young.
