The 100th anniversary of Burfordville Baptist Church is observed with special activities in the morning and a basket dinner at noon; guest speaker is Dr. Adrian Lamkin, director of the Center for Baptist Historical Studies at William Jewell College.

Cape Color World recently moved to a new location at 341 S. Kingshighway; David Morris and his mother, Vivian Morris, had been planning the move since a storm destroyed their old building in the Town Plaza last year.

State College and Southern Illinois University will resume regular-season basketball competition next year; the two schools, longtime rivals in sports, haven't competed in a regular season since the 1953-1954 campaign, when they split two games.

75 years ago: April 26, 1937

Strom's News Agency was moved over the weekend to its new quarters at 415 Broadway from 405 Broadway, where it had been located for a dozen years; the new store room has been remodeled both inside and out.

Construction has been started on an addition to the Colonial Tavern on U.S. 61 at the Broadway junction; of frame construction, the building will be at the north end of the present structure and will conform in design with the building erected five years ago, but will be separate from it; the annex will be used as a washing and greasing department on the first floor, with the second floor being a dormitory for truck and automobile transport drivers.

100 years ago: April 26, 1912

Edwin A. Miller, son of I. Ben Miller, has completed his studies in the St. Louis college of pharmacy and has been graduated with honors; there were 43 in his class, and Miller graduated third in the group.

Edward D. Hays, John A. Snider, William B. Schaefer and Fred Kies of Jackson come down from St. Louis on the noon Frisco after attending the Republican convention.
