The two youth groups of the Evangelical United Church of Christ in Cape Girardeau left Friday for their third trip to the Young Christian's Weekend at Silver Dollar City; the Twixt-N-Tweeners and the Christian Youth Fellowship and their sponsors, along with a number of parents, make up a group of 30 traveling with three campers and two tents to attend in the inspirational weekend.
ALTENBURG, Mo. -- One of the last remaining log cabin homes in East Perry County has been moved for preservation purposes; the cabin, believed to have been the home of Christina Loeber, has been moved through the efforts of the Perry County Lutheran Historical Society Inc., from its location near the residence of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Moeslein to Main Street in Altenburg.
It is learned that E.M. McDowell of Evansville, Ind., a former Girardean, has contracted to buy the former St. Mary's High School property at Sprigg and William streets from St. Mary's Parish for a reported $50,000.
Organizations which have tickets on sale are making plans to refund money to purchasers in compliance with an announcement yesterday by Sheriff Alvin Klaus and Prosecuting Attorney Stephen N. Limbaugh that automobile raffles, bingo and similar forms of "charity" gambling will be banned.
CHARLESTON, Mo. -- William H. Hands, 47, jailer of the Mississippi County jail here, dies in the evening of injuries sustained when he was attacked yesterday by two prisoners who escaped the jail.
A special election will be held Wednesday in the Juden School District on a proposition to vote $500 of bonds for the moving of Juden school house to a new location and place it on a better foundation; the funds would also provide for certain repairs and improvements for the other school house of the district.

Upper Broadway is astir with reports of a mysterious woman, dressed in black and wearing a black veil, who has been wandering the street at night; one report has her pulling a revolver on a group of boys recently.
