WOLF LAKE, Ill. -- A possible strike by teachers of the Shawnee Community 84 School District was averted here Friday night when the teachers yielded to the school board on the last major item in their contract negotiations; the teachers agreed to drop the district's two part-time elementary teachers, who are also part-time principals in the system, from the contract negotiations.
Suzanne Ewbank, a student at Southeast Missouri State University, is named Miss Southeast Missouri State in a pageant sponsored by Sigma Chi fraternity; she is now eligible to compete in the Miss Missouri Pageant in July.
