Good Shepherd Lutheran Church hosts an Easter sunrise service at 6:30 a.m., followed by a breakfast; other churches holding sunrise services include New Salem United Methodist, Trinity Lutheran at Egypt Mills and Hobbs Chapel United Methodist.

Easter services for Trinity Lutheran Church of Cape Girardeau, under the direction of the Rev. David V. Dissen, pastor, are held in temporary quarters at 55 N. Pacific; festival choral selections are presented by the church choirs under the direction of Marvin Altis.

50 years ago: April 11, 1957

WASHINGTON -- Mrs. Dwight D. Eisenhower, a member of the National Society, Daughters of the American Revolution, held a special "preview" at the White House this week of the DAR collection of signatures of the Wives of Presidents, which will be displayed at the 66th Continental Congress which opens Monday; Mrs. Frederic A. Groves of Cape Girardeau, Mo., president general of the DAR, took the autographs to the White House to show the First Lady.

LeRoy F. Mason, music instructor at Jackson High School, and Doyle Dumas, choral director of Tilghman High School at Paducah, Ky., have been appointed to the music faculty of State College.

75 years ago: April 11, 1932

Ross Young, proprietor of the Johnston Cleaning Co., 24 N. Main St. in Cape Girardeau, announces he will be a candidate in August for the Democratic nomination for sheriff of Cape Girardeau County.

The Association of Southeast Missouri Life Underwriters is organized in the evening at a meeting of a group of insurance men at the Hotel Marquette; president of the new group is Walter F. Wilson of Cape Girardeau.

100 years ago: April 11, 1907

A change has been made in the Kraft Baking Co., the concern that built the modern steam bakery in Haarig; F.H. Kraft has bought the interest of his brother, Otto, and the firm is now the F.H. Kraft Baking Co.

The contractor for the new shoe factory at Cape Girardeau completed his preliminary arrangements yesterday and returned to St. Louis; a contract has been made with a brick company for 1,000,000 bricks for the new structure.
