A proposed mobile home park development near Klaus Park is running into a wall of opposition from Cape Girardeau city officials, and the project's future may ultimately rest on a decision by the County Court; the court yesterday received a letter from the Cape Girardeau city manager expressing the city's opposition to the mobile home park being planned by Donald Kuntze of St. Louis.

Associate Circuit Judge William S. Rader has filed for re-election to his first full 4-year term.

50 years ago: March 5, 1957

There are indications that entire science classes from Southeast Missouri and Southern Illinois schools will make the trip to Cape Girardeau on April 5 or 6 to attend the first Regional Science Fair at Houck Field house under the direction of The Missourian and State College.

A resolution opposing the removal by Frisco Railroad of the two daytime passenger and mail trains through Cape Girardeau is adopted by the board of directors of the Cape Girardeau Chamber of Commerce.

75 years ago: March 5, 1932

Winter stages a realistic comeback in Southeast Missouri; accompanied by a snowstorm, the first of any consequence of the season, the mercury dives into a decided slump.

Engineer D.M. Scivally of the Cape Special Road District orders shrubbery that will be planted at the intersection of Highway 61 and Highway 74, both southwest of Cape Girardeau; the major part of the plants to be secured represent $250 worth of shrubbery and ornamental plants, which the district won last year in the highway beautification contest for Missouri.

100 years ago: March 5, 1907

Information is received from St. Louis in regard to the damages given August Ruesskamp and Ella Rodney for their property at Broadway and Fountain Street in Cape Girardeau; the commissioners have awarded Ruesskamp $13,000 for his property and home, while Rodney is to get $4,500 for her lot; their property will be the site for the new federal building.

John Sackman of Cape Girardeau is prepared to take orders for awnings for business houses and residences, and will execute them promptly.
