Jerry Presley, director of the Missouri Department of Conservation, and members of the Cape Girardeau County Commission announce plans to construct a nature center/regional headquarters for the department in Cape County North Park, on land leased from the county.

S.A Ayers and Curtis Lee of Lutesville, Mo., were severely injured last night when a motor speeder upon which they were riding collided with a flat car on the Iron Mountain tracks at Dutchtown; the men had been to Jackson on a business trip and left there shortly before midnight on their way home.
The steamer Cape Girardeau arrives here in the afternoon on its initial trip of the season and is welcomed by one of the largest crowds that has been on the levee for a long time; the grand old boat is painted from top to bottom and looks brand new.
