Pressure is starting to build for the 12 boys and two girls who have taken first-place awards at the Southeast Missouri Regional Science Fair as the time for presentation of special awards nears; the awards will be given out Friday at a ceremony in the Little Theater in Kent Library.

The executive committee for the Southeast Missouri Hospital fundraising drive adopts a comprehensive campaign plan at a luncheon meeting; seven additional leaders in the effort to raise $450,000 to help finance a new east wing to the hospital are announced: R.A. Fulenwider, Arthur F. Deneke, Dr. Milton Shoss, Lehman Finch, Charles N. Harris, Vernon Landgraf and Hugh Logan.

The Rev. Albert T. Mollegen, professor of Christian ethics at the Virginia Theological Seminary at Alexandria, Va., delivers the sermon at the morning worship service at Christ Episcopal Church.

En route to New Orleans to board a boat for South America, Dr. Paul E. Sabine of the research department of the University of Chicago and Mrs. Sabine stop here so the doctor could renew his acquaintance with John Schuler; the two were classmates at McKendree College.

The steamer Cape Girardeau passes here early in the morning on its way to St. Louis from winter quarters at Paducah, Ky.; it will leave St. Louis on its initial trip of the season tomorrow evening.

The election of Judge William B. Schaeffer of Jackson as president of the First National Bank at Cape Girardeau yesterday caused a stir among his hometown friends; the only regret is the removal of the judge and his interesting family to Cape Girardeau.
