Although flooding Mississippi River isn't expected to reach threatening proportions in Cape Girardeau vicinity, situation to south isn't so favorable; river at Cape Girardeau is 25.9 feet, while at Cairo, Ill., at mouth of Ohio River, Mississippi is 4 feet over flood stage and continuing to rise.
Permanent camping ground for Boy and Girl scouts of Cape Girardeau has been selected, and negotiations are underway to secure and establish camp; proposed site is on Castor River, 20 miles west of Marble Hill and two miles south of Highway 34.
