While interior furnishings haven't all arrived, actual work on the new Cape Girardeau Municipal Airport building has been completed, and the Cape Central Airways and Ozark Air Lines have moved into their new quarters.

Henry Batten and Dave Eldridge join a crowded field for Cape Girardeau city commissioner; there are now 14 candidates for that post.

75 years ago: Feb. 5, 1935

A request that the Cape Girardeau City Council in 1935 again join the Central Relief Organization in a cooperative relief program here by matching dollars with funds raised by the CRO was made to the council yesterday by the Rev. R.H. Daugherty, the relief unit's chairman; there is now only a small balance on hand in the relief fund and additional funds must be raised to carry on the work of distributing clothing, food and fuel, and giving medical attention to the poor.

Work is progressing on the remodeling of the interior of the room at 628 Broadway, formerly occupied by the Auto Club, which will be occupied by Conn Instrument Co., managed by Raymond "Peg" Meyer.

100 years ago: Feb. 5, 1910

The basketball team from Gordonville met defeat last night at the hands of the Cape Girardeau high school boys, 49-12; the visitors not being accustomed to playing on an indoor court were handicapped by the slick floor of the Normal gym; playing for Gordonville were Albert Ahrens, Benjamin Sanders, Robert Kiehne, John Ahrens, Walter Poe and Albert Schwab; the Cape Girardeau team is composed of Ulen Stone, Herman Hall, Fred Macke, Earl Swan and Walter Cook.

Mr. and Mrs. Gus Stehr of Humboldt, Tenn., arrive for a visit with Mr. and Mrs. Charles Stehr.
