Bishop Bernard F. Law of Springfield-Cape Girardeau Diocese Wednesday led dedication ceremony for multipurpose building of St. Mary's Cathedral; building houses kindergarten, kitchen and gymnasium.

Cape Girardeau voters will select four city council candidates from field of nine in primary election Tuesday; candidates are incumbent Howard C. Tooke, Peter F. Daniels Jr., Gail D. Woodfin, Donald R. Strohmeyer, Walter S. Hearnes, Timothy L. Kelley, Frank H. Meyers, Bradley McIntyre and Larry F.M. Gray.

Schedule of clinics where dogs and cats may be vaccinated in compliance with rabies quarantine imposed on Cape Girardeau County by the state has been worked out; clinics, to be held at various towns in county, will begin Feb. 9.

Three promotions are announced in Cape Girardeau Fire Department, made to fill vacancies left by dismissal of three men last week; Capt. Charles Mills is promoted to assistant chief; Charles Cora and James Baker are promoted to captains.

Hollow tree in Old Lorimier Cemetery reveals cache for some loot stolen Friday night from the home of Mr. and Mrs. George Blore; police recover items after anonymous caller telephoned Blore with tip.

Cape Girardeau and surrounding area is blanketed with snow, first time this season that there has been an appreciable snowfall.
