A former evangelist, the Rev. D.W. Cobb is the new pastor of the Free Trinity Pentecostal Church at 1542 N. Water St.; the Rev. and Mrs. Cobb moved here from Henderson, Ky., their hometown.

Yesterday afternoon's sunshine and hint of spring changes in the evening to more seasonal weather, with snow flakes appearing as the sun set; snow fell through the night and Girardeans wake up to five inches of the stuff.

75 years ago: Feb. 28, 1935

L.A. Mudd has a contract for construction of a one-story brick building at 605 Bellevue St., to be used by the Seehausen Sanitary Meat Market, 637 Broadway, as a meat-smoking plant; the building will be about 20 feet long and 16 feet wide.

With R.J. Ford and V.M. Vancil as matchmakers, Headquarters Company of the National Guard will sponsor a series of boxing contests at Houck Field House March 12; the main match will pit Clarence "Tubby" Koch against Eddie Clinton.

100 years ago: Feb. 28, 1910

The barn on Spanish Street belonging to Dr. M.A. Grissom is destroyed by fire during the night; the Kimmel brothers had the barn and lot rented and used it for their stock; the first men to reach the fire saved several mules, and the Kimmels lost only a small amount of hay.

The new train transfer cradle and incline at West Chester, Mo., for the Perryville, Chester, Ste. Genevieve Railroad, is about completed; it will be one of the best along the river.
