Cape Girardeau could lose more than $2 million annually if majority of city council members are unable to decide which riverboat casino operator will be allowed to operate in city.

Former member of Kappa Alpha Psi fraternity was arrested yesterday, ending more than week of arrests stemming from hazing death of Michael Davis, Southeast Missouri State University student.

25 years ago: Feb. 26, 1979

Emergency personnel throughout area continue to be inundated with calls for assistance following Sunday's blizzard; there are still some remote areas that remain out of contact; thousands of area residents are without electrical service, and Missouri Utilities Co.'s four-wheel drive service trucks become mired in drifts, hampering repair efforts.

Personnel who were at St. Francis Medical Center and Southeast Missouri Hospital when storm hit Sunday remain at their posts, with their replacements unable to make it to hospitals.

50 years ago: Feb. 26, 1954

Additional out-of-town accommodations are needed for visiting fans who will be here next week for Missouri Class A basketball tournament, report members of committee organizing event.

Capt. William E. Crump, president of local unit of Missouri Association of Firefighters, says petitions asking elections to recall from office both Mayor Manning P. Greer and Fire Commissioner Roy Smith will be circulated by city firemen beginning next week.

Tom A. Danks is new director of Cape Girardeau Municipal Band, succeeding Dr. C.E. Schuchert, director for 30 years.

After being separated nearly 24 years, Mrs. G.A. Weis of Cape Girardeau has been reunited with her brother, James Donnelly, who she last saw while a small child in Scotland.
