A high-speed chase of a stolen pickup truck began at New Madrid, Mo., and ended abruptly in Cape Girardeau yesterday afternoon when a Cape Girardeau County sheriff's deputy fired shots that blew out the remaining inflated tire and radiator of the truck.

Scott County Presiding Commissioner Durward Dover says the commission will vote to contribute $5,000 toward a feasibility study to develop plans and contracts for running a transmission line from the Sikeston (Mo.) Power Plant to the port.

In what is, without question, the largest, most successful cooking school of the 12 The Missourian has sponsored, the third day's program is staged in the afternoon before another capacity house at Broadway Theater.

Preparations are being made by the Cape Girardeau Garden Club to launch a rose-planting campaign this spring, the rose having been adopted as the city flower last fall by the city council, upon the suggestion of the club.

A man is circulating a petition for signatures in each ward for the "F.A. Kage for mayor" ticket; the ticket is made up as follows: Kage, mayor; D.A. Nichols, chief of police; R.H. Whitelaw, city attorney; George Meyer, collector; A. Flentge, assessor, and Harry Alexander, police judge.

Harry Tibbs, the noted sign-painting artist, is the new manager of the moving picture show at the Opera House.
