City council yesterday tabled any action to appoint public housing commission, despite prompting from members of citizens advisory committee; some councilmen said they wouldn't appoint commission without first submitting issue to Cape Girardeau voters.

Armed with petition bearing signatures of more than 100 Cape Girardeau residents, opponents of go-cart track on North Kingshighway assailed city council last night and thwarted final approval of proposal.

Straw vote taken among those attending Juden School meeting last night for discussion of proposed reorganization of district with five others into R-3 showed that measure might pass by slim majority.

Cape Girardeau County soldier was killed Feb. 22 in automobile accident; dead is Pfc. Harold G. Wilson, 21, of Millersville; he is survived by his mother, Mrs. Dale Jaco, and half-brother, Bruce Jaco, both of Millersville.

75 years ago: Feb. 24, 1929

Seven branches of Aid Association for Lutherans, from Cape Girardeau and Perry counties, are represented at special meeting held in afternoon, at which four state officers of organization are present and address 75 representatives on alms and purposes of Missouri Federation.

The Rev. John W. Kelley, C.M., who is in charge of mission at Elsinore, Denmark, is in Cape Girardeau visiting St. Vincent's College.
