It's moving day for remaining tenants of Cape Girardeau Municipal Airport terminal building, as city prepares for $1.1 million renovation of facility; work is expected to begin later this spring, but tenants are being asked to temporarily relocate to prepare terminal building for asbestos-removal project.

Terry Risko would like to see Cape Girardeau Public Library bookmobile on road by fall; Risko, library director, says effort is still about $100,000 short in its drive for bookmobile.

25 years ago: Feb. 14, 1977

Minimum salary increases of $500 across board for each teacher and coaching staff changes in Central High School Athletic Department will be among recommendations going before Board of Education this evening; it is expected there will be new coaches named for football program, although it is uncertain how extensive changes will be.

Olive Branch, Ill. - Lead poisoning is suspected in deaths of 2,000 Canada geese at Horseshoe Lake Game Refuge and at Union County Refuge at Ware, Ill.; it is believed that lead pellets shot by hunters were consumed by geese from frozen ground.

50 years ago: Feb. 14, 1952

Mrs. Alta Seabaugh Eifert, 41, of Cape Girardeau is instantly killed in head-on automobile and truck collision on Ramsey Creek bridge on Highway 61 north of Ancell.

The 1,000th residential building permit issued in Cape Girardeau since end of World War II is written by Building Inspector E.W. Meyer for Robert D. McGee, plasterer; Elbert Masters, contractor for McGee, takes out permit, which is 40th issued to him in past two years.

75 years ago: Feb. 14, 1927

Fred P. Mann of Devils Lake, N.D., whose success with small-town store brought him national reputation, tells Cape Girardeau merchants of his plan in address at dinner meeting at Hotel Idan-Ha; Mann tells how he started 40 years ago with $65 in capital, in town of fewer than 2,000 people, and built up business with gross annual receipts of more than $250,000.

Illinois Route 150, Chester-to-Cairo highway, which will pass through McClure, Ill., will be given early attention of Illinois Highway Department this year, says Gov. Len Small; road will be connected with Cape Girardeau bridge by spur from McClure to road approach.-- Sharon K. Sanders
