The state attorney general's office rules Cape Girardeau City Councilman Gail Woodfin's involvement in a car rental business at the municipal airport is a conflict of interest, although it is set up in a blind trust.

Cape Girardeau County Prosecuting Attorney Stephen N. Limbaugh Jr. has granted a one-month extension to Delta residents who could face legal action if they don't clean up a debris-filled slough that runs through the town.

50 years ago: Feb. 12, 1955

As soon as Congress approves an appropriation, the Army Corps of Engineers will be ready to take bids for the first section of the flood-control program to prevent the river from overflowing low parts of Cape Girardeau.
