School board purchases new cafeteria equipment for May Greene School at substantial savings over market price; equipment was offered to board for $3,000 by Davis Electric Co., which purchased it with intention of putting in cafeteria at its plant, then abandoned idea.
City council rejects rezoning plea during four-hour regular session; Mr. and Mrs. John Foster had petitioned to rezone tract on North Kingshighway from residential to commercial use; they had wanted to build tourist court.

Gately Chain Stores Inc. of St. Louis plans to establish store in Cape Girardeau by Feb. 1.
Workers are laying forms for concrete roof of new Hotel Marquette Garage, being built to rear of hotel.
