The Salvation Army Tree of Lights has exceeded its goal of $65,000, and donations are still arriving; according to Capt. Elmer Trapp, the Army has collected about $66,000 so far.

A record Christmas holiday traffic in Cape Girardeau is reported by motor bus line agents, who say it was difficult to secure enough busses and cars to transport holiday visitors between Cape Girardeau and St. Louis and Memphis, Tenn., and over the short lines into other points served by the local lines.
Capt. F.H. Coester, now residing in St. Louis, commander of the student soldiers at Teachers College during the World War, will be among those to attend the first reunion of the local SATC at Hotel Marquette on Friday; the affair will mark the 20th anniversary of the discharge of the men, 20 of whom reside in Cape Girardeau or the immediate area.
CHAFFEE, Mo. -- There's a good deal of talk here about a proposed strike of telegraphers on the Frisco Railroad system; the walkout was to have taken place today, but has failed to materialize; the operators want an 8-hour day, a 10 percent increase in wages and time-and-a-half for overtime work.
Conrad Stehr, after being confined to his home the last three years, died last evening at age 77; Stehr immigrated to this country 60 years ago from Germany, coming directly to Cape Girardeau, where he was employed as a tailor.
