A committee of Cape Girardeau and Jackson officials has worked out a proposed agreement that could resolve an annexation dispute between the two cities.
Summer school and summer band, both victims of budget cuts last year, have been reinstated by the Cape Girardeau School Board; drivers education, which also had been cut from the budget, was reinstated Thursday in actions that restored all program cuts that directly affected students.
Would-be ice skaters at the city's new rink at Arena Park find that vandals were there first; a large number of skaters who expect to use the rink find the ice broken and in chunks, too rough for skating; the broken chunks will have to be removed and a new skim of water will have to be added to smooth the surface.

Manuel A. Wulfers, formerly of Cape Girardeau, has written that he is leaving his job at the New York Athletic Club for a better one at the Hotel Everglades in Miami; Wulfers is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Wulfers of Cape Girardeau.
A Court of Honor for the Cape Girardeau District of the Southeast Missouri Boy Scout Area was held last night at Common Pleas Courthouse, with Judge L.L. Bowman presiding; 46 merit badges were awarded to 12 Scouts.
A strong protest against the location of the Standard Oil Company's filling station at the corner of Lorimier and Merriwether streets was sent to the city council last night and was concurred in unanimously by that body; according to the action taken, the company will be denied the privilege of putting its tanks there and maintaining a stock of oils and lubricants; the protest was signed by nearly every resident in the neighborhood.
Constable D.M. Scivally leaves in the morning for points in Oklahoma and Texas, where he will spend three or four weeks with his four brothers, three of whom he hasn't seen for 36 years; Willis Martin will look after Scivally's duties while he is away.
