A boy and girl who were being held at the juvenile home in Cape Girardeau for Alabama authorities allegedly robbed a juvenile officer yesterday, stole his car and escaped before being recaptured soon afterward at gunpoint near the Mississippi River Bridge.

The Cape Girardeau County Court discusses a proposal to create numbered addresses for buildings in the Cape Girardeau Industrial Park, but decides to consult a lawyer before approval.

PERRYVILLE, Mo. — The Ralph Adams Lake, a popular fishing spot three miles north of Silver Lake, literally "went down the drain" yesterday, when two large sinkholes developed in the shallow part of the impoundment; about one-third of the water is left in the 17-acre basin, and few of the fish remain.

The Cape Girardeau City Council agrees to enter into negotiations with two landowners for street right of way from the southeast to the new elementary school tract near Dennis Scivally Park; the land needed is owned by Mrs. Fred A. Groves and William R. Siemers.

75 years ago: Dec. 1, 1933

SIKESTON, Mo. — Fists flew as the annual Thanksgiving Day gridiron battle between the Charleston, Mo., and Sikeston high schools was concluded yesterday, but no one was injured; however, officers, including local ones, deputy sheriffs and state highway troopers interfered, and two shots were fired by one officer to "frighten the crowd"; the fighting started when fans swarmed the field after Sikeston won the game.

Public Works Administration allotments made at Washington, D.C., include $37,000 for constructing and equipping a new post office building at Perryville, Mo.

100 years ago: Dec. 1, 1908

Dr. Milton A. Grissom, dentist, has moved his office to the corner of Broadway and Spanish Street, to the building that until recently housed The Daily Republican newspaper.

Louis Kipping, the Tilsit merchant, and one of the best men in the county, comes to Cape Girardeau with his son, who attends the Normal School; Kipping had been sick for some time and is just able to be out.
