At least 19 new members of the legislature will inspect the State College campus Wednesday morning as part of an orientation program which is taking the freshmen legislators on a tour of all Missouri's public-supported institutions.

Pouring of thousands of cubic yards of concrete for runways and taxiways at Cape Girardeau Municipal Airport has begun; the first of eight 12 1/2-foot-wide, 2,000-foot-long slabs going into the runway has been poured.

Six box cars for Girl Scout cabins will be installed in Cape Girardeau's City Park, east of Fairground Park, between West End Boulevard and Henderson Avenue, north of Normal Avenue; the cars are sealed inside and, when equipped with stoves, will furnish warm meeting places for Girl Scout and Brownie troops.

Three Civil Works Administration projects in Cape Girardeau County have been approved: Development of City Park at Jackson, grading and graveling of rural roads in the Arbor community and general landscaping work at the Teachers College.

100 years ago: Dec. 4, 1908

At a meeting last night in the Commercial Club rooms, a threshing machine company was organized; the directors chosen were D.A. Glenn, J.H. Himmelberger, Mercer D. Wilson, J.H. Schonhoff and one other outside man yet to be selected; the factory will be established in the old wheelbarrow plant; the first machine to be turned out has already been spoken for by farmer J.H. Keller, who lives a few miles from Cape Girardeau.

The Chenue jewelry company is enlarging its quarters, which will add much to the convenience and appearance of the store.
