The first barge load of empty containers for shipping out of the Southeast Missouri Regional Port Authority's facility north of Scott City is expected to arrive at the port Monday; some containers will be transferred to an industrial plant on Nash Road for loading; others will go to a new warehouse in Scott City.
Beverly Enterprises, one of the largest health-care centers in the country, will open its new, 120-bed facility at 2852 Independence St. in Cape Girardeau next week.

The petition asking for a saloon license for William Summers is withdrawn from the County Court, but it is believed the matter will come up again; Summers denies the claim that Charles Unnerstall will be a partner in the business, saying he will run the saloon himself; since Jim Miller acquired Unnerstall's old saloon, Cape Beer is sold exclusively, and Unnerstall has been left without a place in Haarig to dispense his St. Louis beer.
