Recommendation by Southeast Missouri State University Board of Regents that school negotiate agreement with Cape Girardeau School District to use its new 4,200-seat gymnasium for Southeast basketball game poses problems.

Petitions calling for election on consolidation of Illmo and Scott City have been presented to city clerks of both towns, and committee recently formed to study effects of consolidation is holding organizational meetings.

50 years ago: Nov. 30, 1953

Packed on sidewalks and crowding into street at intersections, thousands of people line parade route to see Cape Girardeau's Salute to Santa Claus, annual event staged by retailers to mark beginning of holiday shopping season.

First day enrollment is 1,006 at State College, increase of more than 100 students over corresponding figure last year.

75 years ago: Nov. 30, 1928

Terra cotta for new Cherry Floral building on Broadway has been received, and shipment of brick is expected within next few days, after which construction of walls of building will begin.

Theodore Hahs, 19, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Hahs of Fornfelt, is seriously injured when he is struck by heavy piece of timber while engaged in razing building formerly occupied by General Box Co. factory at Fornfelt.
