Study of federal office space needs in Cape Girardeau recommends that new federal building be built here and that existing facility be renovated and used for bankruptcy court and other federal offices.

Sikeston High School, champion in Big Eight Conference, grabs off four first-place positions on all-star team as picked by coaches of schools, along with sports writers from four area newspapers; Portageville Bulldogs, undefeated champs of Little Seven, are voted most positions on first and second mythical teams for that circuit.
Illmo - S-Sgt. Billy J. Goodman, son of Mr. and Mrs. Elvis L. Goodman of Illmo, has been awarded Bronze Star for heroic achievement under fire in Korea, while serving with Marine Corps infantry battalion on Aug. 12 and 13.
75 years ago: Nov. 30, 1927
Long highway controversy in Southeast Missouri over location of federal Highway 61 through Scott and New Madrid counties is apparently in its last stages, as members of rival camps sponsoring two routes make final plans for appearing before state highway commission at Jefferson City Friday, when special hearing will be held to decide highway location; adding to debate is appointment today by Gov. Sam A. Baker of R.S. Brownlee of Brookfield to highway commission, succeeding Hugh Stephens.
City plan for Cape Girardeau, one that would mean gradual development along prescribed lines, was explained to more than 150 interested Girardeans last night by Harland Bartholomew, noted city plan engineer; Bartholmew was peppered with questions at end of his two-hour talk, demonstrating interest in plan by listeners.
