City inspectors have ordered the owner of the old Marquette Hotel, Thad Bullock, to repair the deteriorating structure at Broadway and Fountain Street to meet general building safety codes.
Missouri Department of Conservation statistics indicate that motorists in Cape Girardeau County are colliding with deer at a high rate; through Oct. 31, the Conservation Department's Southeast Missouri Regional Office reported 51 deer struck and killed by motor vehicles in Cape Girardeau County.

James N. Haddock, a medical student at the University of Missouri in Columbia, returns there after having visited his parents, Mr. and Mrs. T.J. Haddock of Cape Girardeau, since Wednesday; he came with his brother-in-law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. Siebert L. Miller, and the latter's daughters, Joan and Nancy Sue, of St. Louis, for Thanksgiving.
More than 100 people from Cape Girardeau and nearby towns are participating in the Interdenominational Training School, which opens in the afternoon at Christ Evangelical Church; the event is being sponsored by the Ministerial Alliance.
