Ditches and small creeks, already well filled from heavy November rains, run bank-full under steady downpour through morning hours; fields and roadside ditches are covered with water, hampering farmers who are trying to combine soybeans.
Teachers of Lutheran schools of Cape Girardeau and Perry counties met in Cape Girardeau Friday for Southeast Missouri teachers conference at Trinity Lutheran School; presiding was Walter Pallisch of Pocahontas, chairman.
75 years ago: Nov. 25, 1926
Thanksgiving Day is observed in Cape Girardeau; most business establishments close either full day or half day; banks and post office are also closed for holiday.
Fornfelt - Four families are left homeless as result of afternoon fire that destroys five houses; most of furniture and other household effects are destroyed, too; Mrs. Lizzie Harden, widow, not only is rendered homeless, but also her income is terminated by fire which destroys three houses owned by her son-in-law, E.H. Rabeneck, who let Harden live in one and have rental from other two houses.
