Four armed youths, ages 12 through 19, are apprehended at 8 a.m. on Giboney Island, south of Cape Girardeau, after a two-day hunt by police, launched when a 25-foot boat was reported stolen on the Mississippi River near Festus, Mo.; 22 law enforcement officers, including Missouri State Highway Patrolmen, Cape Girardeau County officers, Cape Girardeau police, Illinois State Policemen and Alexander County, Ill. officers, land on the island after 7 a.m. and catch the boys hiding behind a dike.

September's annual revival of the SEMO District Fair showed a net cash gain on operations of $1,187, after deduction for permanent improvements.

75 years ago: Nov. 22, 1935

Denver Wright's chase for the big, bad wolf moves into Cape Girardeau County, as the St. Louis sportsman, unable to locate any of the animals in the Apple Creek hills, moves south to what is known as the Shepherd Hills in the vicinity of Neelys Landing; the first hunt in the new territory is launched today, with a pack of wolf-trailing dogs put on the scent shortly before dawn.

The South Main Street extension will be the first major project started under the Works Progress Administration program here; work to extend Main from William Street to Maple Street is expected to begin Monday or Tuesday, if the allotment of funds is approved.

100 years ago: Nov. 22, 1910

The secretary of state has granted articles of incorporation to the Cape Land and Investment Company of Jackson, with a capital stock of $50,000; incorporators are J.A. Horrell, J.W. Hunter and G.H. Henderson.

Drusch's new store on Broadway will have one of the finest entrances and fronts in Cape Girardeau.
