Many Cape Girardeau area residents got unexpected and rare view of one of U.S. Air Force's top weapons systems, the B-1B bomber, as it flew over southern edge of city yesterday afternoon; Steve Kaeser, air traffic manager with Federal Aviation Administration's Memphis Air Traffic Control Center, confirms that bomber flew over Cape Girardeau at altitude of 12,000 feet.

Lyn Muzzy, director of Cape Girardeau Convention & Visitors Bureau, has been installed in Missouri Division of Tourism's Hall of Fame; Muzzy has been involved in Missouri tourism number of years; he has been with Cape Girardeau bureau since 1987.

25 years ago: Nov. 22, 1976

Following the success of The Missourian's 28th annual Missourian Art Show, which was resumed over weekend after two-year hiatus, decision has been made by newspaper management that event will continue on yearly basis with no more interruptions.

Cape Girardeau's financial position is improving as tax payments of residents - as is usual for this time of year - begin tumbling into city's bank account; while there was $7,533.48 deficit in cash balance on hand in general fund at beginning of October, by month's end situation was turning around; general fund receipts for month totaled $837,970.53.

50 years ago: Nov. 22, 1951

Religious services, plenty to eat and relaxation are order of day for Cape Girardeau and district, as Thanksgiving is observed; community Thanksgiving service is held at Centenary Methodist Church for members of 24 Protestant churches of Cape Girardeau; principal speaker is the Rev. Frank S. Wilfinger of First Christian Church; directing Centenary Methodist Choir is J.C. Brandt, professor at State College.

I.R. Kelso, widely known lawyer and civic leader of Cape Girardeau, died yesterday at hospital in St. Louis; his death was not unexpected; Kelso practiced law in Mexico, Mo., and Kennett, before moving his family to Cape Girardeau in 1906.

75 years ago: Nov. 22, 1926

Burwell Fox, county superintendent of schools of Washington County, and who is completing his 50th year of service as educator, is in Cape Girardeau to spend Thanksgiving holiday with his son, Burwell Fox Jr., and latter's family at 323 N. Lorimier; Mrs. Fox has been here for several days visiting her new granddaughter, who arrived several days ago.

Gov. Sam A. Baker selects Col. C.D. Matthews, Southeast Missouri's representative on state highway commission, to become chairman of that board, succeeding Theodore Gary, who resigns.
