Presiding Circuit Judge. A.J. Seier says he hasn't responded to month-old request from board of directors of Cape Girardeau-Bollinger County Major Case Squad that he call grand jury, because "it would be a waste of time and taxpayers' money"; board requested grand jury to help in solving Aug. 12 murder of Lee E. Moore, who was found shot to death on his property near Whitewater.

Libraries at Cape Girardeau Central High School, Junior High and L.J. Schultz have been computerized, thanks to federal grant money; librarians for each school say pupils find computers much easier to use than old card catalog.

25 years ago: Nov. 21, 1976

Annual Fall Festival is celebrated at Hanover Lutheran Church; guest speaker for morning worship service is the Rev. Jerrold Nichols, associate director of Evangelism of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod.

Illmo - Congregation of Eisleben Lutheran Church in Illmo continues its celebration of its 125th anniversary and Bicentennial; the Rev. Herman E. Baumann, who has been pastor of congregation for past two years, speaks part of morning service in German; also, some members attend service dressed in fashions of yesteryear; during service, boys and men sit on left side in sanctuary, while girls and women occupy right side.

50 years ago: Nov. 21, 1951

Body of Pvt. Clarence A. Siemers, who was killed in action only three days after landing in Korea, is being returned to Cape Girardeau for burial; arrangements will be made through Brinkopf-Howell Funeral Home, and burial will be in Memorial Park; Siemers is survived by his mother, Marie C. Siemers of Cape Girardeau; brother, Kenneth Siemers, and his grandmother, Nora Spalding of Gordonville.

Infant respirator, purchased with $1,000 collected in "ugliest man" contest at State College, is on display in Academic Hall; respirator will be donated to St. Francis Hospital polio ward by Alpha Phi Omega fraternity, which conducted contest.

75 years ago: Nov. 21, 1926

Harvest Festival is celebrated at Grace Methodist Church in observance of Thanksgiving season; sermon appropriate to occasion is delivered by pastor, the Rev. W.O. Schulze; church is decorated with bounty of season: Apples, pears, corn, potatoes, carrots, turnips and every other type of fruit, grain or vegetable grown in this section; on Monday, produce will be auctioned at social gathering to be held in church cottage; proceeds of sale will go to Central Wesleyan Orphanage at Warrenton.

East Prairie - Large crowd attends dedication of new high school; interesting program is furnished by local musicians and glee clubs of school; address is delivered by President Joseph A. Serena of Teachers College at Cape Girardeau.
