Members of St. Mary's Cathedral parish assemble at St. Mary's Cemetery as the rosary is recited before the crucifixion shrine for the repose of all those buried in the cemetery.

The congregation of Bethel Assembly of God Church recently started construction of a new church building joining onto the present structure at the corner of William Street and Sheridan Drive.

The Salvation Army Advisory Board has authorized Capt. E.R. Orchard, the Cape Girardeau commander, to secure the entire three-story Ragsdale building, where it now has its hall.

Buildings at the northwest corner of Broadway and Main Street are being torn down preparatory to construction of a large superservice unit by the Sinclair Oil Co.

100 years ago: Nov. 15, 1909

Postmasters E.W. Flentge of Cape Girardeau and Henry Puls of Jackson go to St. Louis, having been summoned there by an inspector of the railway mail service; it is rumored that officials of the railway mail service are considering the petition of Jackson citizens for mail service by automobiles from Cape Girardeau.
