The final state inspection of Cape Girardeau's sewage treatment system is started in the morning; if the system is approved, the contractor will be released and become eligible for his final payment; one problem is encountered at the disposal plant in South Cape Girardeau during the inspection, when a calcium carbonate formation shuts down the filtrate pump; it is said this will have no effect on the inspection, however.
Members of the Missouri Valley Federrtation of Brotherhoods of the Evangelical Church held their annual meeting at Jackson last night and today, with members of the Emmanuel Church as official hosts; the main address was made by the Rev. R.E. Weisser, pastor of Christ Evangelical Churchin Cape Girardeau.
Jackson farmer Harry Talley sustained a broken jaw late yesterday, when he was kicked by a mule at his home on the Cape Road; Talley had finished shearing the animal and was walking around that one and others in a small lot to turn them out into a field, when the animal kicked him.
Yesterday evening, a huge section of the Frisco main track just south of Independence Street was nearly precipitated into the river, when its foundation slid out; the track, bent considerably and inclined on the outside, held together sufficiently to permit the night trains to pass over safely after some work was done to augment its foundation; the slide occurred where the rip-rap lining of the bank was taken out by the workers on the McMurry contract.
The closing sessions of the Southern Convocation of the Episcopal Church are held in the evening in Christ Church; Bishop F.F. Johnson preaches a most powerful sermon on "Lot's Choice" and confirms a class of three.
