The city of Cape Girardeau has received two economic development grants; the funding will aid Tri-Con Industries in its $2.2 million plant expansion; it will also be used to assist General Sign Co. in connection with relocation of its operations to a new plant due to repeated flooding problems.

Goebel of Cape Girardeau; most of the building, including woodwork and iron, will be painted green; the flagstaff on the roof of the building is included in the job; the work is to be finished within 35 days, and the contract price is $375.
Ben Morten, who has been connected with the Metropolitan Insurance Co. in this city several years, has been promoted to assistant superintendent of the Carbondale, Ill., office.
Several members of the Castor River Fishing Club -- George Patton, J.C. Cairns, A.C. Vasterling, Robert Shipley, Ed Massengill and Joe T. Wilson -- depart in the morning on the Hoxie train; they'll fish for Jack salmon and black bass along the banks of the Castor.
