With the exception of the usual harmless pranks, authorities report a quiet Halloween night; there were no reports of any injuries or serious vandalism; Scott City police officers did confiscate about eight dozen eggs that had been intended to be used for purposes other than eating.

Police report no serious vandalism occurred during last night's Halloween celebration, rain apparently dampening the usual high jinx; police do break up groups of milling college-age students on Broadway and near the dormitories on the State College campus on several occasions.

Radio station KGMO has been authorized by the Federal Communications Commission to operate at 5,000 watts and to broadcast at 1550 kilocycles; the new spot on the dial replaces the 1220 point formerly occupied.

75 years ago: Nov. 1, 1936

It is revealed at an American Legion committee meeting that the Missouri Pacific Railroad has given the former Cape Girardeau Northern Railroad depot building at Jackson to the Louis K. Juden Post; the group will raze the building and use the materials in restoring Fort D at Cape Girardeau; the structure is made of cut native limestone, brick and lumber.

A Reformation Festival is celebrated during the morning English service at Trinity Lutheran Church; the sermon is delivered by the pastor, the Rev. F.H. Melzer.

100 years ago: Nov. 1, 1911

The usual Halloween pranks were played last night, and it seems the fun was rather rougher than common; the marking of windows was carried out to the fullest extent, and many garden gate changed locations.

Will Poe, the popular driver for Bergmann-Bartels Store, has taken a job with the U.S. Express Co.
