The Southeast Missouri port north of Scott City will soon become one of a limited number of inland ports that will offer new containerized shipments; containerized service will allow area businesses to transport less than barge load shipments from here to New Orleans for export throughout the world.

Laying of the foundation has been completed and construction is now well underway for the new Bethany Baptist Chapel to be located at 430 Koch Ave.; the old building, which previously stood on the site, has been moved to the back of the lot and will be used for Sunday school purposes.
A $1,000 cash deposit has been made with the city of Cape Girardeau by Newt Gilliland to protect it against damages that might occur in the moving of a house over William, Good Hope and a part of Sheridan streets; the house is presently on the northwest corner of Sheridan and William streets.
George H. Sisler, former major league baseball player and manager, arrives in Cape Girardeau at noon; in the evening he speaks at the Central High School auditorium; arranged by the Optimist Club, the meeting is designed for the boys of the city and district.
Denver M. Wright, St. Louis manufacturer, who proposes to hold a lion hunt in Southeast Missouri in the coming week, formerly lived in Cape Girardeau and is a son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles B. Wright of the Marble City Heights suburb.
Despite the refusal of the city of Cape Girardeau to help monetarily in building a permanent bridge over Sloan's Creek, a span is assured; the County Court has agreed to match funds raised by lot owners and other residents who have subscribed $2,107 to the cause.
The biggest shipment of paper ever made to Southeast Missouri comes on the boat for The Daily Republican; it is composed of 150 double-size bundles; 25 bundles make a big wagon load, and it takes an entire room in a warehouse to store it.
