Missouri Utilities Co. has filed application with Missouri Public Service Commission in Jefferson City seeking authority to refund about $455,000 to its Southeast Missouri gas customers; application is result of refunds company has received from its natural gas suppliers, Texas Eastern Transmission and Natural Gas Pipeline Company of America.

Leon Brinkopf of Cape Girardeau, who played third base for Los Angeles, Calif., club in Pacific League this season, was in Cape Girardeau this week for short visit with his mother, Mrs. Leon F. Brinkopf; he is on his way to San Juan, Puerto Rico, where he will play winter baseball; Brinkopf, who has always played third base, will be tried in outfield.
Selective Service summons has taken Coach Charles Weber from his post at helm of Illmo-Fornfelt Rams, and Willis Nichols, who coached team two years ago, has taken over as coach; Weber left earlier in week for St. Louis for induction.
75 years ago: Oct. 8, 1927
Clarence L. Grant is allowed $3,500 for his services as receiver and co-receiver of Cape Girardeau Northern Railroad in Common Pleas Court, following court's acceptance of his resignation as co-receiver; Grant was appointed receiver for road on Dec. 1, 1922, and became co-receiver two years ago when George W. Cross was appointed to similar position.
Secretary of Cape Girardeau Chamber of Commerce is mailing checks to all winners of premiums at Cape County Fair; heretofore, it has been customary for premiums to be paid during fair, but because of bad weather it was necessary to defer matter; fair directors reported deficit of $1,600 due to rain each day exposition; at meeting of chamber last night, those present were asked to volunteer checks to pay premiums.
