Business at the home office of Centerre Bank, Independence Street and Mount Auburn Road, will begin Tuesday morning; records and cash are moved over the three-day weekend from the present main office at Broadway and Main Street; also part of the weekend changeover will be the closing of the bank's West Park facility.

A Chaffee City Council committee is drawing up guidelines for the possible hiring of a part-time city manager, who would aid the city in obtaining federal and state grants and make city government more efficient.

50 years ago: Oct. 6, 1958

Mr. and Mrs. Julian V. Howes, 10 N. West End Blvd., have purchased the former parsonage of the First Baptist Church at 215 N. Henderson Ave.

Three charter members were honored by fellow members of the Cape Girardeau Business and Professional Women's Club at a breakfast yesterday opening observance of National Business Women's Week; Dr. Anita E. Bohnsack, H. Marie Friant and Bernadette Hoche were in the small group of women who organized the club in 1929.

75 years ago: Oct. 6, 1933

The Horse Show, with the rodeo the big side attraction, had another great day at Fairground Park yesterday when 2,900 people attended the matinee and night performances.

According to a message received by R.B. Oliver Jr., from Julien N. Friant, special assistant to Secretary of Agriculture Henry L. Wallace, Southeast Missouri may not get one of the Civilian Conservation Camps established this winter; the men were to have been employed at clearing out ditches in the numerous drainage and levee districts.

100 years ago: Oct. 6, 1908

Edward F. Regenhardt appeared before the Cape Girardeau City Council last night when he filed his bond for the construction of the new city hall, fire and police station; Regenhardt is to complete the hall within 90 working days.

The new managers of the Riverview Hotel are cleaning, papering and painting the building and propose to conduct a first-class hotel; the dining room is being refitted; the hotel will be under the personal management of Dr. N. Megrath.
