Microfilm of The Southeast Missourian -- from its first issue of Oct. 3, 1904, to the present -- will soon be available to the public at the Cape Girardeau Public Library; three new pieces of microfilm equipment, along with a complete catalog of microfilm of this newspaper, are being installed at the library.

Cape Girardeau police apprehended 13 boys yesterday in the old junior high school building, 101 S. Pacific St., but released them after a check of the building showed no signs of new damage; the boys ranged in age from 10 through 19.

Members of the Louis K. Juden Post of the American Legion are making plans for a Halloween costume ball; the ball will be Halloween night, after a parade; proceeds from the event will be used to buy shoes for needy school children.

A meat department is being added to Mack's Cash Grocery, 1714 Broadway; the McCary Refrigeration Co. of St. Louis, through its local representative, is installing a new electric refrigeration display case; Joe Harvey is doing the work.

1914

A new attendance record was set last week at the county fair; the four-day event was witnessed by between 19,500 and 20,000 people; in addition, fair officials believe a profit of around $1,800 was made.

"Big Bill" Barenkamp leaves on the early morning train for St. Louis, where he has accepted a position with a shirt manufacturing factory for the winter; he will return here each Sunday, however, until the close of the baseball season to pitch the Capahas to victory.
