The Cape Girardeau and Jackson city councils each have agreed to join with the Cape Girardeau County Commission in contributing a third of the $10,000 cost of starting negotiations with the Corps of Engineers for environmental permits on a proposed lake in Cape and Bollinger counties.

Rush H. Limbaugh Sr., a practicing lawyer in Cape Girardeau for more than 73 years, was presented with the Recognition Award of the Missouri Fellows of the American College of Trial Lawyers at a special ceremony held last month in Kansas City.

The West Side Church of God begins a two-week revival, with Dr. Warren C. Roark of Anderson, Indiana, serving as guest evangelist; pastor of West Side is the Rev. Gary Ausbun.

The Rev. Donald G. Pelsue, pastor of First Christian Church in Cape Girardeau, is one of the 10,000 persons from the United States and Canada attending the annual assembly of the International Convention of Christian Churches (Disciples of Christ) in Detroit, Michigan; Pelsue is one of Missouri's representatives on the 200-member Committee of Recommendations, through which all business of the assembly is channeled.

Sponsors of WPA jobs in the future will have to pay a heavier share toward projects; recently, the sponsor had to underwrite 20 percent of the cost of a project, but in the future that percentage will go to 25.

A small group of retail merchants meet at the Cape Girardeau Chamber of Commerce building in the evening and, because sentiment is about evenly divided, decides to canvass all merchants of the city to determine the attitude with regard to the proposal to establish parking meters in the town's business districts of Broadway, Main and Good Hope streets.

A boiler inspector for a liability insurance company came here Friday and, in company with the president of the school board, inspected the second-hand boiler in Lincoln School; the inspector will forward his findings in a written report to the board from his office in St. Louis.

Mrs. Mabel Whittacker returns to her home in Chaffee, Missouri, after spending a few days here with relatives and friends; she is accompanied home by her mother, Mrs. Charles Stout of Jackson, who will visit there a few days.
