100 years ago: Oct. 27, 1904
The local police were notified Thursday morning that an attempt was made to rob the post office at Commerce, Mo., the evening before; entrance was effected through the front door of the building; the knob on the safe was broken off, but it wasn't entered.
The Daily Republican has bought the title, subscription list and good will of The Daily News, and that newspaper has been suspended.
