Police are seeking leads in a burglary at a Cape Girardeau store in which merchandise valued at almost $11,000 was taken; employees of Bob's Shoe Service, 515 Broadway, speculate burglars used a truck or van to haul away jeans, shirts, boots, belts and belt buckles.

E. Lawrence Bahn Jr., director of the Southeast Missouri Regional Science Fair, says the third annual event will be held at Houck Field House from March 31 through April 3.
The Missouri Division of Health has notified city officials that Cape Girardeau must have a permit to dump its sewage in the Mississippi River, but as yet the promised application for such a permit hasn't been received.

The Rev. C.H. Morton observes the 14th anniversary of his pastorate at First Presbyterian Church in Cape Girardeau.
New pastors for two Methodist Episcopal Church, South, in Cape Girardeau and for New McKendree Church at Jackson, are announced; the Rev. J.C. McDaniels, lately the pastor at Blodgett, Mo., will be transferred to Maple Avenue, while the Rev. J.E. Isbell, pastor at Bellevue, near Farmington, Mo., will be pastor of Third Street; the new pastor at Jackson is the Rev. D.R. Wasson.
100 years ago: Oct. 22, 1908
"Uncle" Joe Cannon Day in Cape Girardeau yesterday was a great success; the crowd was the largest here for a political speech; the speaker of the House paraded down Broadway with hundreds of people; in a talk at the fairgrounds he discussed tariffs and presidential candidate William Jennings Bryan.
Leroy Moore of Matthews, Mo., has purchased the residence of Charles McDonald, 233 N. Henderson Ave., and will move up in two or three weeks to start his children in school.
