Southeast Missouri Hospital has received state approval for $30 million expansion that will increase size of facility by more than 40 percent; approval of three-phase project was received yesterday at meeting of Missouri Health Facilities Review Committee in Jefferson City; keystone of project will be construction of four-story, 105,000-square-foot clinical services building.

Final boundary lines drawn by Missouri House Redistricting Commission leave most Southeast Missouri incumbent representatives with broad base from which to launch re-election campaigns next year; although all districts were altered some by redistricting process, most incumbents maintained large part of their present districts; two exceptions to this are State Reps. Ollie Amick, D-Scott City, and Gene Copeland, D-New Madrid.

25 years ago: Oct. 10, 1976

Three special activities take place at Westminster PresbyterianChurch, 1820 Perryville Road; service dedication is held in morning to celebrate construction of new fellowship building and redecoration of sanctuary; in afternoon there is official ribbon-cutting opening new building; and in evening, turkey supper is held for congregation and friends, with the Rev. Dr. Thomas Bass, former pastor, and his family as honored guests.

Sunday service for Christ Episcopal Church begins at Common Pleas Courthouse, point at which early services were held in 1876 prior to completion of church building in 1877; from there, congregation proceeds to church for remainder of service of morning prayer and sermon; pot-luck lunch follows.

50 years ago: Oct. 10, 1951

Question of using old Broadway School building for youth center, or Teen Town, came up for discussion at Board of Education meeting yesterday, with delegation representing several organizations interested in such a center appearing before board to inquire into possibilities of obtaining building; board hasn't decided what to do with old school.

Movie stars Jane Darwell, who is about 60, and blonde Monica Lewis, 22, and movie writer Edmund Hartmann took part in parade and visited children in polio ward of St. Francis Hospital yesterday in connection with nationwide observance of 50th anniversary of movie making.

75 years ago: Oct. 10, 1926

The Rev. William P. Ponet, who recently assumed duties as pastor of St. Vincent's Catholic Church, has started publication of "The Vincentian Weekly," pamphlet through which he hopes to keep members informed of activities of parish; first issue stresses need for new parish house.

Brickwork for new $150,000 First Baptist Church building on West Broadway is virtually finished, and within another week, it is believed, edifice will be under roof; many of visiting Methodist ministers, here for 80th annual conference of St. Louis District of Methodist Episcopal Church, visited building site this week and were shown through structure.
