50 years ago: Jan. 7, 1954

Cpl. John L. Hunter of Cape Girardeau, listed as missing in action since Dec. 2, 1950, is now presumed dead and Army has notified his mother, Mrs. Mae Hunter; also among names of Army personnel missing for more than year in Korea and presumed to be dead is Maj. Lawrence E. Loos of Jackson.

If recommendation of state Tax Commission is followed, Cape Girardeau Teachers College will receive $448,500 from state for its support during next biennial period.
