The Rev. Edwin C. Brasington, pastor of First Presbyterian Church of Cape Girardeau, has been elected and installed as the first moderator of the Presbytery of Giddings-Lovejoy; the new presbytery was formed last fall when the former presbyteries of Southeast Missouri and Elijah Parish Lovejoy united after 122 years of separation.
Austin Periodical Services has leased a building under construction at South Frederick and Good Hope streets from Mr. and Mrs. Claude A. "Nip" Kelley; the company distributes magazines, periodicals and paperback books to about 190 retail outlets in Southeast Missouri.
While the southern counties of Southeast Missouri received snow overnight, the northern counties remained free of snowfall; several inches fell in Missouri near the Arkansas line; driving conditions were dangerous, and three people were killed south of Cape Girardeau in a series of vehicle crashes.
Monsignor Marion F. Forst, pastor of St. Mary's Cathedral and vicar general of the Diocese of Springfield-Cape Girardeau, is appointed bishop of the Dodge City, Kan., diocese; Forst has served as pastor of the Cape Girardeau church since June 1949.

Streetcars have been having a hard time since the snow came last night; one car, with a young lady and two escorts, making a trip from the train depot to the Normal School dormitory is more than an hour getting out of Broadway.
